Father, give me a heart like Barnabas. I, too, want to be a son of encouragement. I want to give You what I have to give. When I see Your grace in operation, let me be glad. May I encourage others with purpose of heart that they should continue in You. As Barnabas was a good man, I want to be a good (wo)man, full of the Holy Spirit and of faith. I pray that through Your Spirit, many will be added to the faith. Acts 4: 36-37, 11:23-24
Heavenly Father, I pray that I will comfort and edify others, as You have said. May I warn those who are unruly, comfort the fainthearted, uphold the weak, and be patient with all. May I not render evil for evil, but always pursue what is good both for myself and for others. 1 Thessalonians 5:11,14-15
Father, because You have chosen me, and I now holy and beloved, enable me to put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering; bearing with others, forgiving others and asking for forgiveness; even as Christ forgave me, so must I also forgive. But above all things, Father, I pray that You will help me put on love, which is the bond of perfection. And then Your peace will rule in my heart, as I was called to be unified with the body of Christ; and I will be thankful. Let Your word dwell richly in me in all wisdom, so that I may join in teaching and admonishing others, as they teach and admonish me. Colossians 3:12-16
Father, when I meet with others to pray or to worship, let all things there be done for edification... that all may learn and all may be encouraged. And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, but exhorting one another, and so much more as we see the Day approaching. 1 Corinthians 5:26, 31, Hebrews 10:24-25
Father, may I pursue the things which make for peace, and the things by which I may edify others. Romans 14:19
Father, may I hold fast to the faithful word which I have been taught, that I may be able, by sound doctrine, both to exhort and to convict those who contradict. May I always speak the truth in love, for a word fitly spoken is like apples of gold in settings of silver. Titus 1:9, Ephesians 4:15, Proverbs 25:11
I pray, Father, that You will guide me to convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching, and that You will prepare me to be ready in season and out of season. 2 Timothy 4:2-3
Father, may I learn to share with others the truth of Your Word, for whatever things were written before were written for our learning, that we through the patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope. Now, Father, as You are the God of patience and comfort, grant me the mind of Jesus toward others, that we may with one mind and one mouth glorify You. Romans 15:4-5
Father, You know that heaviness in the heart of a man makes it stoop, but a good word makes it glad; Father, give me true words to make glad the hearts of men! May I bring joy by the answer of my mouth, and speak a good word in due season. Proverbs 12: 25, 15:23
