Whoever wrote Psalm 119 LOVED God’s Word. It describes in detail all of the beauties and benefits to be found by delighting in Scripture. Psalm 119 is also the longest chapter in the whole Bible, so I did not write it out for you here…! It is written as a prayer and divided into 22 sections, so one idea might be to take a single section each day, pray it for yourself and then for the people you love.
Keep in mind that the Psalmist uses a number of different words for God’s Word: law, statutes, testimonies, ways, commandments, precepts, and judgments. Here are just a few of my favorite prayers and praises from the Psalm:
Oh, that my ways were directed to keep Your statutes! (5)
How can a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed according to Your Word. (9)
Open my eyes that I may see wondrous things from Your law. (18)
